Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha has given his verdict on Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga on BT Sport 1 (2:28pm, September 11, 2021).

Zaha played against Tanganga in the Premier League game between Palace and Tottenham at Selhurst Park in London today.

The Eagles won the match 3-0.

Ivory Coast international winger Zaha scored from the spot in the second half.

Tanganga, who can also operate as a right-back, was deployed in central defence and was sent off on 58 minutes after picking up two yellow cards.

The first caution for the 22-year-old came after a cynical challenge on Zaha which led to a scuffle.

Zaha said about Tanganga on BT Sport 1 (2:28pm, September 11, 2021), as transcribed by TEAMtalk: “I’ve seen him play before.

“He’s strong, fast, so as a winger you’ve got to think fast about what you’re going to do. But I enjoy battles, I’m happy today that we came out on top.”

 Bouncing back

Tanganga will be disappointed with the way he was dismissed against Palace today.

The defender’s second challenge on Andre Ayew was really needless and could have been avoided.

The English youngster will have to learn from his experience today and must keep his calm under pressure.

Tanganga is only 22, and we can hope that he will learn from what happened today and bounces back.

Tottenham themselves will be keen on bouncing back from their first defeat in the Premier League this season.
