RHOSLC’s Whitney Rose saw the fear and terror in Jen Shah’s eyes when she wanted her mic removed. After she took it off, Jen was arrested for fraud.
As soon as Jen Shah turned to her The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City co-star, Whitney Rose, and asked her to take off her microphone, Whitney saw true fear in Jen’s eyes. Season 2 of the fairly new Bravo franchise aired its premiere episode on Sunday, September 12, and fans are excited about what has been going on with the Salt Lake City ladies. Earlier this year, viewers heard about Jen being arrested in the middle of filming the new season.
Shortly after the arrest took place, news and rumors began to circulate, with camera footage capturing Jen leaving a federal court. After she was arrested, it was confirmed that the reality star is facing federal charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering in connection to a telemarketing scam she had allegedly been running with her assistant, Stuart Smith. Even though Jen was facing all these charges, she resumed filming soon after her arrest.
During an exclusive interview with Page Six, Whitney opened up about the moment Jen asked Whitney to remove her mic while boarding the bus to head to the destination for their cast trip. At the time, the 34-year-old was unaware federal agents were looking for Jen. However, she knew it must have been serious, as removing one’s mic is prohibited while filming Housewives. “I mean, taking off the mic, that’s like a no-no. We don’t do that,” she revealed. “When Jen looked at me with pure terror and fear…I just knew — I saw the fear in her eyes. And I can’t help it. I’m just a girls girl, like, I’ll do it.” At the time, Whitney wasn’t sure what was wrong but knew she had to help her.
The skincare company owner added that the aftermath of Jen’s arrest was “a really difficult situation to navigate.” Before Jen’s arrest, Jen and Whitney decided to start over in their friendship by trying to tolerate each other and build a relationship from there. According to Whitney, Jen “was being really nice” to her at the time. The two had been on “a really good track,” but the arrest completely derailed the path they were on. Jen was being accused of some really horrible actions, which made it difficult for Whitney to move forward in her budding friendship with the 47-year-old. Nonetheless, Whitney realized it was her “job to choose what kind of friend” she wanted to be. She chose “to match Jen with whatever Jen” gave her in their friendship.
Whitney knew something was up with Jen as soon as she asked her to remove her mic. What she didn’t know, of course, was that federal agents were looking for Jen at the time. Even though their friendship wasn’t exactly where they wanted it to be, Whitney couldn’t help but be there for someone who was in need. As for where their friendship stands today, viewers will have to tune in every week to see how their relationship will survive Jen’s arrest.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
