Ratings continue to rise…

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha maintained its fantastic domestic debut into the second week of its broadcast with episodes 3 and 4.

Viewership in South Korea, per data from AGB Nielsen, rose from 6.66% from episode 2 to 8.73% for episode 3; with another increase to the fourth episode too. This marked the fourth straight episode that Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha has been the most popular series in the primetime programming block.

It remains difficult to assess the K-drama’s popularity around the world with Netflix not releasing their official viewership online. However, the series is maintaining its scores on various user feedback websites, including an 8.7/10 on MyDramaList and a 9.1/10 on IMDB.

This is alongside the incredibly favourable reviews from critics, being labelled as “promising and peaceful” by the South China Morning Post, who also praised the leading actors. The casting was also emphasised by Decider, who said “there is enough seashore scenery and chemistry between the show’s leads to recommend it.”

A remake of Mr Handy, Mr Hong…

The Korean drama series currently airing on tvN and Netflix is a remake of a 2004 film called Mr Handy, Mr Hong (often abbreviated to just Mr Hong in English).

The movie featured the likes of Uhm Jung-Hwa (Baek Hee-Soo from Bestseller) and Kim Joo-Hyuk (Jin Ha-Rim from Believer) in the leading roles.

Mr Hong received favourable reviews, scoring a solid 6.2/10 on IMDB, 7.1/10 on MyDramaList and an 80% on AsianWiki.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to locate the movie on any of the major legal streaming platforms.
