Tottenham Hotspur have high hopes for new signing Pape Matar Sarr – and he is on the same path to stardom as Liverpool star Sadio Mane.
Emerson Royal was Tottenham’s big signing before the transfer deadline, but Fabio Paratici struck another deal that will only really start paying off next season and beyond.
Midfielder Sarr has been secured amid interest from a host of other clubs, but has been sent back on loan to Metz for the season.
Sarr, 18, is considered to be one of the top young midfielders in Europe and should have a huge future with Tottenham.
Sarr not only has athletic ability but is also great on the ball; he can beat players through the middle of the pitch with dribbling ability and has great ability to shoot from range.
Sarr will obviously need to keep developing and adding to his game, but he can follow the path to stardom that Sadio Mane and Ismaila Sarr have taken.
Pape Sarr, like Mane and Ismaila Sarr, game through the Generation Foot academy in Senegal. That academy has great links to Metz, and the French club became their first stops in Europe.
Mane and Ismaila were both quickly spotted and plucked from Metz early, as Tottenham have now done with Pape.
Mane and Sarr are Premier League stars with Liverpool and Watford, and that’s what Tottenham will be hoping from after clinching their own Sarr signing.
Add in that Kalidou Koulibaly also excelled with Metz before becoming a Senegal star and one of the top centre backs in the world, and Metz seem to be the club to sign Senegalese players from.
Tottenham now have to hope that Sarr is on the same path to stardom, and would love to have their very own Mane-like quality player down the line.
