The Way of the Househusband season 2 release confirmed by Netflix

Netflix has only just launched the live-action drama series, but has now confirmed the release date for The Way of the Househusband season 2.

In April 2021, the Spring anime started with over 30 new series being simulcast around the world; however, one of the best anime of the month was undoubtedly Netflix’s The Way of the Househusband.

The anime series from J.C. Staff and Netflix may have crept up on many fans, but the series itself was anything but a sleeper; showcasing how an infamous gangster handles the battles of the domestic household.

The hilarious franchise recently added a live-action drama to its catalogue, but what do we know so far about season 2 of the anime?

The Way of the Househusband season 2…

It’s good news for fans of The Way of the Househusband, with the anime officially renewed for season 2 by J.C. Staff and Netflix!

The announcement was shared via Twitter just one day after season 1 premiered in early-April, but not many fans of the series will be too shocked by this news.

The official Netflix viewership remains unknown, but it’s obvious that the series is immensely popular around the world – ignoring any issues that some may have had with the animation style. Currently, The Way of the Househusband is scoring a solid 7.05/10 on MyAnimeList, 7.3/10 on IMDB and a 77% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Thankfully, the manga that the anime adapts is also ongoing, with the 8th volume set to be published in early September 2021. According to reports, only 26 of the 69 published chapters were adapted in season 1 of the anime.

This means that there is plenty of hilarious source material left to adapt into the second season and with the manga still going strong, potentially a third after.

The format of The Way of the Househusband also gave fans confidence that the series would return. The splitting of each episode into smaller episodes/arcs means that production won’t be either particularly time-consuming (compared to typical anime seasons) or strenuous on the studio’s resources.

The Way of the Househusband season 2: Release date…

The Way of the Househusband season 2 will release via Netflix on Thursday, October 7th, 2021.

The streaming giant announced the return date alongside the release of a brand new trailer for season 2, see below.

It was also revealed that the opening theme will be titled “Chef no Michi” (The Way of the Chef), and will be performed by Uchikubigokumon-Dōkōkai. The ending theme will be titled “Gokushufukaidō” (The Highway of the Househusband), also performed by Uchikubigokumon-Dōkōkai.

The full voice cast for season 2 has not been officially shared, but fans can expect the same actors from season 1 to reprise their roles, including Kenjiro Tsuda as Tatsu, Shizuka Ito as Miku and Kazuyuki Okitsu as Masa.

However, two new additions have also been announced, with Tomokazu Sugita playing Bob, Tatsu’s neighbor, and Subaru Kimura joining as Goda, an ex-gangster turned rapper.

This article will be updated with international release times closer to the October 7 premiere, so keep checking back in for the latest news.

The Ingenuity of the Househusband…

On August 29th 2021, Netflix launched the first season of the series’ live-action drama, titled ‘The Ingenuity of the Househusband.’

Season 1 consists of five, five-minute-long, episodes with popular Japanese actor Kenjirô Tsuda in the leading role.

The Ingenuity of the Househusband has been branded as a ‘Bonus Series’ to the franchise’s main anime series. Fans should therefore expect more episodes to be produced in the future, despite no official word on season 2 yet.

Fans may also not know that this is actually the second live-action drama adaptation for the series, following the 2020 series ‘Gokushufudo‘.
