When Shang-Chi 2 starts to come together, fans and actors of the movie will think about what they want to see happen. Actor, Simu Liu, recently talked about what thoughts and questions he’s been having about his character’s future and how he fits into the bigger MCU world.
Liu made his name when he played Shang-Chi in Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi, and he’s got another big role in a movie coming out next month. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are still in a state of limbo and stagnation. Liu has been very busy in the last year.
When Shang-Chi came out, it made a lot of money. People seem to have liked the movie right away. There was almost no question about whether or not there would be a Shang-Chi sequel. It was more about when it would happen. However, Liu has had some time to think about which parts of his character he wants to spend more time on.
I’m curious to see what Shaun does with all of his newfound power, you know? It kind of took over his father, took over Wensum. I want to know how someone who is much younger and less experienced would do against the rings. Just the thought of being given something so powerful but also so dangerous.
That’s not all Liu asked. “How does Shaun fit in with the rest of the MCU?” You’re going to see who. Crazy team-ups. Easter eggs and tie-ins: What kind of things do you think there are? So I don’t know anything, but I’m excited to start the process.” So far, very little is known about the next movie. Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed the first movie, will direct the second one, along with stars Awkwafina and Meng’er Zhang. There are some general ideas about how the second movie will go, but Cretton hasn’t said anything more about them.
Shaun was under a lot of pressure at the end of the first Shang-Chi movie. This all led up to the huge responsibility that comes with having so much power that people can’t even imagine. Yet, Liu seems to be willing to go a long way when it comes to finding out about the morals of his character and the many universes that he lives in. The excitement for Shang-Chi 2 is still high, even though there isn’t yet a release date.
