Manchester City are now making Real Sociedad talent Mikel Oyarzabal one of the top targets for upcoming transfer windows.
That’s according to Eurosport, who claim that City insiders are ‘convinced’ Oyarzabal is a ‘key target’ for 2022.
City may have spent big on Jack Grealish this summer, but remain keen on attacking talent with a move for Oyarzabal now anticipated.
Who is Mikel Oyarzabal?
Oyarzabal was born in nearby Eibar and joined Sociedad’s youth setup from his hometown team at the age of just 14.
The winger now has almost 250 appearances to his name with Sociedad.
Oyarzabal has hit double figures in each of his last four seasons with Sociedad. He has already hit four goals in four games this season too.
With 10 assists last season too, Oyarzabal has shown that he is not just a goalscorer – he can also create too.
The 24-year-old is naturally left-footed and, like many Spanish players, had outstanding technique.
Having registered five goals in 19 caps for Spain, Oyarzabal has primed himself for a big move by starring for club and country.
With City keen, that big move could finally come, offering a bigger move than West Ham.
City’s interest in Oyarzabal
It’s stated that Txiki Begiristain admires Oyarzabal and wants to sign him for City.
Oyarzabal does have a £67million release clause in his deal, and City will have to decide whether they want to pay that.
With Bernardo Silva’s future unclear, adding another left-footer to Pep Guardiola’s ranks does make some sense.
Oyarzabal looks ready for the step up, and Txiki could now move to bring the winger to Pep Guardiola.
