Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has raved about Aaron Ramsdale for his performance against Norwich City, as quoted in Football.London.
Ramsdale was in action for Arsenal in their Premier League game against Norwich at the Emirates Stadium in North London today.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper started ahead of Germany international Bernd Leno.
The Gunners won 1-0.
Arsenal boss Arteta was impressed by the former Sheffield United custodian and has spoken highly of him.
Arteta told Football.London about Ramsdale: “I think he was terrific.
”It’s not only what he did on the technical side, it’s what he transmits, his energy, his chemistry with the backline, how he reacts, his body language – I think he was top.”
First-choice goalkeeper now?
Ramsdale made his debut for Arsenal against West Bromwich Albion in the Carabao Cup last month.
The Englishman kept a clean sheet against the Championship club.
Arsenal won 6-0.
And now the 23-year-old has kept a clean sheet on his Premier League debut for the Gunners.
Bernd Leno is a very good goalkeeper, but Ramsdale is better with his feet.
We should not be surprised if Ramsdale starts Arsenal’s next few games.
It could become harder for Leno to get into the team now.
Arsenal are not playing in any European competition this season, which means that Leno could now be facing a considerable period of time on the bench.
Ramsdale joined Arsenal from Championship club Sheffield United in the summer transfer window.
