Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Duncan Castles has made a claim about Alexandre Lacazette and his future at Arsenal.
Arsenal have a number of players with uncertain futures, and Lacazette is one player who looks likely to depart.
The Frenchman is into the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium, and Castles is led to believe that the striker is happy to run his deal down and leave next summer as a free agent.
What’s been said?
Castles shared what he knows about Lacazette.
“Arsenal were very keen to sell the player, but they couldn’t find a suitor who would provide them with enough cash to do the deal and convince Lacazette to move. He has one year left on his contract, and we understand he’s happy to run that down and leave as a free agent in one year’s time,” Castles said.
Can you blame him?
Can you really blame Lacazette for looking for an exit route out of the Emirates?
He’s not a guaranteed starter at Arsenal and the Gunners are in a dire situation on the pitch at the moment.
Lacazette could easily get a move to a club playing European football, after all, he was once described as ‘brilliant’ by Mikel Arteta, and if we were in his shoes we’d probably do the same.
Ideally, Arsenal will be able to move him on for a fee in January, but it sounds as though Lacazette is happy to depart on a free if he has to.
