Gary Neville has claimed that Leeds United new boy, Daniel James, will ’cause problems’ for Liverpool today, as he told Sky Sports News (12/09/21 at 2:50 pm).

The 23-year-old signed for Leeds on deadline day from Manchester United and he is now in line to make his debut for the club against Liverpool.

It has been a long time coming for James to sign for Leeds because, at the second time of asking and two-and-a-half years later, the Whites finally secured the signature of the flying winger.

If the heavyweight encounter at Elland Road proves to be an open affair then it’s going to be some battle in Yorkshire.

And this is what Neville predicted about James before Leeds and Liverpool locked horns on Sunday afternoon.

“I think today against Liverpool, he will cause problems because he suits this Leeds team down to the ground,” said Neville.

“I think this game suits them today. I think this is a really good game to play.”

Manchester United supporters don’t like Leeds or Liverpool very much, but perhaps one man they will be hoping does do something special is James.

It will probably help them in their Premier League title charge during these early stages if James can do them a favour by inflicting a first defeat of the season on Jurgen Klopp’s men.

It has been a strong start from the Reds, including a 1-1 draw against Chelsea last time out, although the European champions were down to ten men for the second half of that fixture.

Nonetheless, whilst Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa are searching for their first win, their visitors will be hoping to avoid a first defeat of the new campaign against a team that will test their engines.
