Evil Dead has been entertaining the fans for the past 40 years, and it continues to do so. The last release was in Oct 2013, and the first release was in 1978.
The creators of the show Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, have confirmed that an Evil Dead 4 is on the way, and here’s everything we know about the movie so far. Sam Raimi confirmed that Evil Dead 4 was in the process of filming in October 2019.
Also, he announced that Bruce Campbell would only be participating as an executive producer. Things were mostly quiet on the project until June 2020, when Campbell revealed that Raimi had handpicked a writer/director for it – Lee Cronin of the European horror film The Hole in the Ground.
It is difficult to predict when the shooting for the movie will begin, but before the COVID 19 pandemic hit the world, Campbell had hinted at a possible 2020 filming start. If that happens, a theatrical release sometime in 2021 is possible.
Plot details of Evil Dead Now
As of now, no official plot details have been revealed but the fact that it’s being talked about as the fourth official film suggests that it will overlook the effects of Fede Alvarez’s quasi-remake, and instead connect undeviating back to the original Evil Dead trilogy in some way or the other.
If that’s the case, it’ll be interesting to see how Cronin’s script explains Ash’s absence, if at all, and whether or not Ash vs. Evil Dead is still considered canon in Evil Dead 4, which will have a female protagonist.
It would also be exciting to see Campbell make a cameo for old times’ sake, possibly as a monster or in some other non-Ash role where he could be disguised a bit under make-up.
Stay tuned with us to find out more about Campbell and his role in the sequel, and to get recent updates on the latest TV shows and movies.
