The Bose SoundLink Micro is a small speaker.
If you already have a lot of Bose products and want a portable speaker that can handle almost anything, the SoundLink Micro is a great addition to have.
If not, save some money and go with something like the JBL Clip 4.
Portable Bluetooth speakers are a great way to bring the party anywhere, but they often sacrifice sound quality for portability.

That is not the case with the Bose SoundLink Micro.
Even though it came out a few years ago, this waterproof speaker remains one of our favourites.
It even has an elastic strap that you can loop around your bike or bag during a day of outdoor adventure.
Sound Micro!
Hikers can attach this speaker to a backpack strap.
It’s just begging you to take it on your next big adventure, and the IPX7 rating means you can take it out in the rain.
Bikers can put the speaker on their handlebars and play music while riding.
This is better than using earbuds while commuting because you can stay aware of what’s going on around you.
Students who need a reliable Bluetooth speaker should buy the SoundLink Micro.

From dorm parties to apartment parties, there’s always a time and a place that needs music.
Even though it’s small, the Micro is quite loud and can fill a college dorm room with sound.
What About Its Design!
The SoundLink Micro is available in black, dark blue, and orange.
A soft-touch rubberized finish, just like the Bose SoundLink Color II, makes it easy to hold and protects it from the environment.
Even though the SoundLink Micro can withstand water, it can’t float like the UE Roll 2. Still, it makes a great shower speaker.
If you are curious, the speaker keeps playing music even when it is underwater.
Just for fun, I tried to use Google Assistant while it was underwater, but I couldn’t get it to work.
When out of the water, the Micro’s microphone works well to record voices for smart assistant requests and phone calls.
This strong speaker also has a silicone strap that won’t tear.
Try as you might, that strap is strong. This is easy to attach to a backpack, bike rack, or anything else you can wrap it around.
The latch fits into a cutout on the back of the speaker, which keeps things neat.
The SoundLink Micro only works with the SBC Bluetooth codec, but it also has a high-end feature called Bluetooth multipoint. You can connect it to two devices at once.
This cool feature lets you stream music from your computer while keeping an ear on notifications from your phone.
The audio lags behind the video by one second. The same goes for commands, like skipping between tracks.
This isn’t a deal-breaker, but it can be annoying sometimes, especially when you don’t know if it’s just a latency issue or if Google Assistant didn’t hear you.
So, what does the Bose Connect app do?
The Bose Connect app has fun features like Party Mode, which lets you connect two SoundLink speakers for twice as much sound.

You can even use Party Mode to listen in stereo, as long as you put the speakers far enough apart. You also get other features from the Bose Connect app, such as an auto-off timer, virtual volume controls, and more.
Final Verdict!
All of these things are nice, but the main reason you should get the Bose Connect app is to get access to firmware updates.
What is the battery life of the Bose SoundLink Micro?
The Bose SoundLink Micro’s battery life falls short of the 6 hours of playtime. When we turned the volume down to 50 per cent, we got about 5 hours of playtime.
According to Bose, a 1A power source will take 4 hours to finish a full charge cycle, while a 1.5A source will take closer to 3 hours.
That ratio of charge time to play time is not great. On the flip side, users can play music while charging at home or with a portable power pack.
Should you buy this over the Bose SoundLink Micro or SoundLink Color II?
There are a lot of reasons to choose this micro speaker over the larger one. The SoundLink Micro is less than half the size of the Color II and weighs half as much.
If travel is your main concern, the SoundLink Micro is the better choice. It takes up less space and can be hooked on almost anything.

The Bose SoundLink Micro and Color II have many of the same features. For example, they can both connect to an Amazon Echo Dot and work with virtual assistants like Google Assistant.
Both support Bluetooth multipoint connectivity, so each speaker can connect to two devices at the same time. The main difference in features is that the SoundLink Color II has a 3.5mm input.
If you want better and louder audio, get the SoundLink Color II.
