Big 12 Announcement Amidst the growing tension about the global pandemic, the Big 12 announced they are willing to step forward about playing football in the fall. The Board of directors met for an hourly discussion on Tuesday about the postponement of fall sport until 2021.
The excerpt from the BoDs suggests the athlete students want the competition to unleash their energy. Keeping this in mind Board is looking forward to organizing the fall sport with safety measures highly implemented.
They are consulting doctors, scientists to carry forward a whole event. Directors emphasized the safety of the athletes will not be neglected if any situation arises compromising safety the Board may postpone the event.
New Schedule of Football Combination
A new schedule is published in September. Players would need to adhere to the “9 plus 1” scheme. There will be a combination of conference and non-conference games. The Big 12 also decided to vigil the health of the student-athletes.
Enhanced COVID-19 testing, besides three tests per week in a high contact sport like football, volleyball, and soccer. Players must go through Electrocardiogram, blood troponin test, EKG, ECG for monitoring their cardiac health —as a result of the growing concern of the university and Board for the myocarditis in players who had suffered from COVID.
