Apple Agrees over a $10M Settlement for ‘Defective’ Powerbeats Design

Powerbeats 2

There is good news for those who have bought Powerbeats 2 earbuds and aren’t satisfied with it. According to MacRumors, Apple is going to give refunds to US citizens customers. If you are a US citizen who purchased a pair of Powerbeats 2 earbuds before August 7th, you can expect a payout from the company.

The payout is given over the allegations of being ‘defective.’ Apple has agreed to settle the matter with almost $9.75 million payouts.

Apple was accused of false marketing by plaintiffs over their Powerbeats, two earbuds. They were claimed to be “water and sweatproof” by Apple, but things didn’t turn out as expected. The plaintiffs have stated that these claims made by Apple are misleading customers. The earbuds turn out to be “shoddy”; they even lose charge after “slight use.”

Apple has decided to settle the matter, but no official announcement or anything from them has come out. It looks like they aren’t openly admitting that they, in fact, falsely advertised the earbuds. The legal documents suggest that the decision to settle the trial is beneficial rather than to keep it going; it will cost them not much if they drop it.

The original lawsuit filings included the defects in even Powerbeats 3, but the settlement documents mention Powerbeats 2 only. The Powerbeats 2 was launched into the market in 2014.

If you are a person who purchased the said defective Powerbeats 2 earbuds before the deadline, you can claim a payout by filling out a form online before November 20th. You have to visit the official website of the lawsuit for the form fill-up and submission.

The refund amount you deserve on the claim depends upon various factors. The first obvious factor is how many people submit requests for it, whether you submit proof or receipts of purchase.

They will also do checks if you have previously taken advantage of warranty repair or replacement. If you are looking for details on the refund amount, check out page number 05 of this document.

There will be one final hearing on January 15th, the judges will decide the fate of the decision of Apple to settle the trial. Only the class-action members will receive the relief once the green flag is given to the decision by the lawmakers.

We will keep you updated on the trial, make sure to follow us. Please share this article with everyone so that if someone you know has purchased these defected earbuds, can submit claim for refund.
