Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual Oklahoma Outback Art Festival, in Granite, Oklahoma, located down under I-40. This year the Art Festival will once again provide the best entertainment and art show Outback style starting Friday July 30th from 12:00 to 5 PM and on Sat. July 31st from 8 AM to 4 PM. Chuck Milner & Family will entertain us western style, Will Sanders, from the White House (Mangum) will bring a bit of European flair and the Stardust Trio from Lubbock TX will fiddle their way into your hearts. An up and comer Ezra Hendrickson from Reydon will be playing on Sat. Lots of good things are being said about this young man. Rick Babek from the Willow area will be playing as well as some of the Celedonio Romero Guitar Academy students.

Music and demonstrations will be going on all day. The artists will be displaying their talents is oils, pictures, watercolors, glass fusion, pottery and much more. There are crafts booths as well which will feature everything imaginable by some really creative people.

There will be lots to do for the kids at the Kids Art House, games, participation in the demonstrations, water wars and an inflatable water slide!

There will be a food court on site offering the best in tasty treats that will satisfy everyone’s taste buds. Snow cones, hamburgers, and brisket are just an example.

The Oklahoma Outback Art Festival is held at Camp Kate Portwood in the town of Granite. There are Art Festival signs pointing the way when you get into town, just look for the guitars.

Saturday morning a western style Chuck Wagon Breakfast will be served from 8 till when ever the food runs out so get there early. Tickets for the breakfast are $8 for adults and $6 for children. Not only are you served the best ever biscuits cooked in cast iron skillets but there is sausage and of course gravy, bacon and eggs and much more mouth waterin’ vittles to set your day off right.

In the evening, be sure and catch the Quartz Mountain Music Festival held at the Robert M. Kerr Performance Hall in the nearby Quartz Mountain State Park at 7 PM.

	Last February the Mangum Tigers hosted the Merritt Oilers in  a regular season basketball game.  But this particular game had special meaning for Mangum coach, Jeff Carlisle.  For the past few years Mangum has participated in the Coaches Vs. Cancer game to raise funds for cancer research.  In December 2008 Coach Carlisle’s mother, Vickie Kenney was diagnosed with cancer.  She passed away in November 2009.  The Coaches Vs. Cancer game against Merritt was played in her honor.  Mangum raised over $3,000 and won 2nd in the state.  Bethel School placed first with their effort.  Shown with the 2nd place trophy is Coach Carlisle with his two sons Zach and Ryan.
