Last February the Mangum Tigers hosted the Merritt Oilers in a regular season basketball game. But this particular game had special meaning for Mangum coach, Jeff Carlisle. For the past few years Mangum has participated in the Coaches Vs. Cancer game to raise funds for cancer research. In December 2008 Coach Carlisle’s mother, Vickie Kenney was diagnosed with cancer. She passed away in November 2009. The Coaches Vs. Cancer game against Merritt was played in her honor. Mangum raised over $3,000 and won 2nd in the state. Bethel School placed first with their effort. Shown with the 2nd place trophy is Coach Carlisle with his two sons Zach and Ryan.
